DarkPoetry Council Welcomes Amaryllis

DarkPoetry is pleased to announce the newest member of its council, Amaryllis.

She was chosen because of her reliable and consistent presence here and her general good character. Also, we note her willingness to advocate for re-examination and clarification of site policies even in the face of resistance, and her calm and respectful demeanor while doing so. Help us to mailbomb her with welcome and congratulation messages.

DarkPoetry College Winter Session

For our poetry scribblers who are seeking a guided tour of writing better poetry, coupled with plenty of fancy talk about poetry thing'ms and onomatopoeia, we offer the DarkPoetry Scholars course.

To reserve your spot, send DC$25 to DarkPoet, with "DP College" as the comment. Your reservation will then be confirmed. If you have any questions about how to pay, DPmail either GhettoZombie or DarkPoet.

The ten weeks of activities starts December 14th and is taught by our most experienced professor, Jack. Spots are limited. Please send any specific questions you have about the course via DPmail to GhettoZombie.

Hidden Gems of DP

It's easy to get lost in all the options, nooks, and crannies of DarkPoetry.

For finding stuff to read, you probably know how to use the lists, but did you know you can show poems only from the members you bookmarked? Or you can just click the dice for a surprise?

When posting, you probably will eventually run out of room for new poems. If you're a trial member, you can make your account permanent and more than double your works quota by simply being nice to others.

And most members miss out on the fun of the Cabals, and the forum where you can post unlimited works.

And don't forget to follow us on Facebook for occasional quotes, poetry commentary, videos, and more.

DarkPoetry Scholar Training

Many members have asked me about taking the DarkPoetry POE101 poetry class this summer, and I'm now ready to start accepting applications. It is a ten week course, starting with an introductory lesson on June 1st and concluding with a final exam on August 3rd.

Students who complete the course with a grade of 70% or higher earn the coveted DarkPoetry Scholar icon on their comment posts, a special profile badge, and can request an official signed certificate.

No more than 20 students will be admitted. The fee for the class will be DC$30 and should be sent to DarkPoet by Monday, May 21st.

This time the course will be taught by DarkPoet himself and one co-instructor to be revealed soon. Don't wait, the last class filled up fast.

DarkPoetry Goes On Auction

UPDATE: As you probably guessed, this was our April Fool's joke. Sorry if we fooled you! Wait, no, not really!

Dateline April 1, 2012. Ames, IA -

DarkPoetry for sale:
DarkPoetry.com owner Matt Steven is getting out of the web site business, and needs tons of money so he can go to law school and become an environmental lawyer. He has decided to put DarkPoetry on the auction block this summer to help pay for it all.

"DarkPoetry has been great, I met a lot of lifelong friends and even my wife on this site. But there are a lot of headaches involved in running a site like this, and it's not worth it anymore. I'd rather have money. I probably shouldn't have said that, since I'm selling it. Oops," he disclosed.

Further details about the bidding process and decision date will be forthcoming on the DarkPoetry.com web site. --
