At the Door

~ Scarecrow Jack ~

There is a boy, you see
Closet across the room
Talks through the keyhole
Says he likes the quiet
We talk sometimes

There is a girl, you see
Wrapped in the blankets
Huddled on the bed
Says she likes the rain
Melting across windows

There is an angel, you see
Curled in my pocket
Whispers in my sleeping ear
Says she likes the secrets
Hidden behind the ice

There is a monster, you see
Hiding ‘neath the bed
Funhouse grin
Says he likes the dark
Sings spider web songs

There is a wolf, you see
Laying by the fire
Tornado eyes unblinking
Says he likes the rage
Warm against the ribs

There is me, you see

This was a ride through humanity. A perfect glimpe of every angle of universal emotions. A view from your eyes. Well written and catchy. I enjoyed it.--Jes
