Goodnight Prayer

~ GothicBlack ~

I’ve had my heart pulled from my chest today
And the rotten cavity has filled with filthy maggots
Much like my brain seeps dreadful memories
I wish I could be blind for a night
Glue my mouth shut and sew it tight
Leave me here to wither and expire
As I cry my mind to pieces
And there’s nothing holly left
Blasphemy engulfs my body
Convulsions of a poisonous kind
Dilute my mind and soul
I’ve ripped my heart from my chest
Just to see how long it would beat
Funny how it lasts a few seconds
Before giving up completely

A priest once told me
“God means you no harm”
Why then am I still bleeding?
Gashes and lacerations
Across my face,
Across my wrists
Burning drops of fire
My life’s essences washed away
It’s like a shadow in my eye
A muffled scream in my mind
A whispered plea that came to late
Tonight is the night and it’s almost over
I think I’m slipping out of reality
I want to fly with the angels
And play with the devil
All can be accomplished in this endless sleep

Amazing indeed! Pain, pain and more pain. I get a sense that this poem does not even come close to describing that pain too. Beautiful work though...your poetry is constantly evolving and growing. :::hugs:::
