How Like Glass We Are

~ DarkSoul ~

How like glass we are
So see through, so transparent
We’re all walking two-way mirrors
Reflecting all the world
We see ourselves in everyone
Some, the image smaller than a ladies compact mirror
Others, it’s a standing full-length looking glass.
This imitation, it’s a mockery of flattery,
For all out sight is tinted
By the rosy glass of optimism
Or the dark smoky glass of cynicism

Our sight distorted, we cannot see ourselves
For what we truly are
Just fun-house maimings on the skins of… them
Those who play at acting us
We watch their performance upon the stage of life
Until we can take no more

Then we break

Spider web fractures crawling on our skin

How like glass our minds are
So breakable, so fragile
A violent upset in emotion
And we shatter
Crystal before a high pitched opera

We can try to pick the pieces up,
But we’ll never be the same

The cracks will always show

great use of analogies and a powerful statement... oh, to have a hammer engraved 'in case of emergency' i would smash each and every fraudulent mockery of myself until only i was left... amongst a crystal garden. Then perhaps I could see myself.

Seriously head-wrecking; shattering hearts like feeble mirrors. Splintered my soul no doubt

Very thought provoking, how fragile the human life, heart and mind truely are. Beautiful work hun, you have outdone yourself with this.
