Storm Clouds

~ GothicBlack ~

As I step outside
And just breathe
The bitter, cutting air
I take a step
Outside myself
Calm down
Just breathe deep
And fall within myself tonight

I’m mesmerized
As I sit outside
With the gloomy sky
Rolling above me
I feel a calmness claim me
And I hear all of
The patterns of the rain
Dance on the cement ground
And as I close my eyes
I hope to imagine
I’m somewhere else
Someone else

As my mind wanders
And leaves my body
The storm clouds are growing
And the light, pitter patter,
Of the drizzling rain
Has suddenly drenched me
And I feel the raindrops slowly
Creeping down my arms
And my long hair
Is whipped around
By the unexpected gust of air
Only to wrap itself
Around my face
As tears slide down my cheek
And my jeans have become
Sodden and wet
Weighing down my heart

And above me
The sky has formed
Into a massive storm
I can feel the power growing
Deep inside myself
- my hair is standing straight up-
I’m tingling with the sensation
As it's all released in a lightening strike
A crack of thunder,
A blow of power and emotions
Like a punch to the stomach

In a splash, memories come
Pounding down, hard
A sheet of rain showers
All the secrets in my mind
Spilling outwards
To cry aloud in rage
Brought to the surface
A flood of pain
Emotions consume me
For I’ve lost my breath
Just as I’ve lost myself,
Wandering in my mind
Forced back to my body
I’m cold and I'm wet
Sitting outside in the rain

This.. transformed before my eyes.. much like a brewing storm.. the end felt not of closure, but of release, but not exactly of satisfaction or relief.. Well observed and perfectly melancholy. Thank you.
