Valentine

~ Tracer ~

I found this while deleting files on my school computer account. Better late than never I suppose.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Shallow and shallow
Though deeper I ride
Into crimson wrapped candy
And cards full of lies

I see with my eyes
The killing of dreams
Voices all knowing
Knowing nothing

‘Tis Valentine’s Day
And I sit here alone
Waiting for love to call
But not watching the phone

I will process data
Inside of my mind
Receiving from television
A world so unkind

Rekindled, I hoped
Since I was but eight
A sense of well-being
And less sense of hate

But as long as the rockets,
Glare red in the night
Bringing with them terror
Hope in false sight

I will sit here,
Upon my cushion of silk
Breathing in incense
And breathing out guilt

This was a great read. The ending is perfection. Well done.

I got to think of some of the "old ones" while reading this. These lines, I see with my eyes The killing of dreams Voices all knowing Knowing nothing .... Its classic. Many before you would not have made line shift in 4 there but 2.

But its changed with alot of poets just before, and especialy after first world war. So that makes for a cool mix. The same with the last stanza ...

the last stanza was particularly good...every line was expressed 'just so' to convey your emotion. Lovely. Fox

So bright with imagery and lavish with beauty.. The last stanza blew my mind. "Breathing in incense and breathing out guilt". Absolute perfecting, I love this. ~L
