The Last Visitor

By darkness falls

She came from out of nightmares realm
With a wail and gnashing of teeth
And she walks the earth this dark fall night
For him who will next lie beneath

Down darkened roads this full moon light
Her spectres' face reveal'd
And even small creatures who roam the dark
Make nary a chirp nor squeal

She passes dark dwellings one by one
And brings with her a sudden chill
Trailing torn sacraments of the grave
Through valley and over hill

Til finally, a hut, with a lone candle lit
And she sighs with a ghastly smile
And brings herself to windows light
And lets loose with a terrible wail

Around the dwelling she shrieks and moans
And strikes terror in all but one
For he is near his hard lifes end
It's for him she has finally come

Wailing and gibbering, around and round
Then suddenly there is no sound
And the man on the cot breathes his last breath
His spirit the Banshee has found....

You created such great mental images. Very dark. This poem had a good "feel" to it.
