I Will Let You Go

~ cre ~

In the dwindling release of the dark-bark trees
And the decaying crunch of deciduous leaves
I will let you go.
With the ending prayer of a fallen grace
And the last tear traced down a sullen face
I will let you go.
At the last shuffling step on a broken path
And the emptiness found at the end of wrath
I will let you go,
And I will return to me.

I will let you go,
Like the stars that fall from a dawning sky,
And the sun that leaves the sea
I will let you go,
And I won't look back
And I will return to me.

In the beginning of knowledge and the end of hate
And a trust that's founded on more than fate
I will let you go.
With the courage gained from the life I've lived
And the peace that only my heart can give
I will let you go.
At the final farewell to a journey well-made
And silent respect at the end of the day
I will let you go.
And I will return to me.

I will let you go,
Like the wind that fades with the passing storm
And the rain that falling flees
I will let you go
and I won't look back
And I will return to me.
