Equals One

~ Elegant Kiss ~

"One plus one equals one",
a wise man once said with enthusiasm,
but we pass it off as our own.

What a wonderful thought,
a notion,
an intention.
A glimpse of what was once found,
even if only to be lost again.

"One plus one equals one",
written on a wall where he sleeps,
because he thought I wanted the trees.

I opted for the waves,
the sea,
his water.
Tucked away into a little boat,
listening for his familiar song.

"One plus one equals one",
her words bound tightly in a deja vu.
A choice made from passion with wisdom to spare,
uttered through lips once used for prayer.

She sings to me,
a lullaby,
a serenade.
Then thanks me for being in attendance,
when I'm the grateful one.

"One plus one equals one",
two souls orbiting around each other.
Another lifetime spent struggling to the meeting point,
waiting for the reconnect.

Bodies clicking together,
a soul,
a mate.
Never to be each, without us,
One plus one equals one.
