cockroach

~ Anna Helianthus ~

slipping, crawling
with your feelers
like dancing strands of
Rapunzel's hair
as you slither
across my hands
in the skin
of a sculpted night
where there are no
gods or angels
to witness
a brown body
over my midnight-cast
pallid bones
like blood splashing
on a white carpet

I reach for a boot
or something
with a shell
as hard as yours
