A Poem From Across the Room

~ Rebel_not_Radical ~

On this night,
as I was caressing my Zippo lighter
engraved with a wounded heart insignia,
I laughed as you suddenly pirouetted into my
mind with the grace of a porcelain ballerina
in the usual way you flow through everywhere
I lay my eyes on you

And I thought about writing you a poem
or maybe even things that would make you laugh
just so I can see the elegance of your smile and
the prismatic sunburst in your eyes

Because your smile baby, it's killing me

And believe me when I say that I love it
like the way I suck on this cigarette,
like the way I try to find words to encapsulate
your quintessence

And I love the way I fail at it,
because I would gladly write another poem
that could claw its bloody way into perfection
like a creepy, bumbling adolescent love letter
that you would secretly keep deep inside your heart

Because that's just how I feel...

And i felt that i've just fell in love again for the first time
