This course will build on the foundations laid down in POE101, focusing on an examination of what makes a poem have impact on the reader. Students will gain additional mechanics for shaping poetry: mood setting, storytelling skills, and relevant lessons from classical rhetoric. In-depth personalized feedback is the cornerstone of this course.
The Language of Poetry

POE101 will equip you with the vocabulary you need to talk in an educated way about poems. It also introduces you to techniques for analyzing poems and touches on structured poetry as well. This course does not require you to have any particular qualifications or skills beyond what a high school English course would equip you with.
