I gave you my hand, let you guide me
I gave it to you and we walked
These winding roads.
Well you walked,
I followed.

I asked where we were going.
Your eyes sparkled
As you told me wondrous tales.
You told me all the tales.

“A place of happiness and joy”
That’s what you promised.
Content, I walked on
Always walking.

All was well on our little road,
As it twisted and turned.
All was well,
Until I fell.

You watched the ground rise up
And strike me. I still held your hand.
Silent eyes returned to the path.
You walked on.

I cried out at the tension in my arm.
I cried out for you to stop.
You never slowed.
You never stopped.

I begged for help, I pleaded.
The skin on my side abandoned me for the road
But I held firm,
And you still walked.

No promise of yours was worth this pain.
I just wanted you to stop.
I wanted you to pick me up
And tell me it was all going to be okay.

This poem twists just like the metahor of the road. That innocence described suddenly snaps into a tale of misery. Really shows the pains of love that the protagonist still desires to be picked up and told it's okay. Really enjoyed this!
