I smiled as it burned.
Familiar pain washed over me
As I strode into the Light
So I could stand next to you,
But the Light wouldn't have me.
The Illumination only seemed
To point out the Hole in my chest.
Desperately I fought
As I was pushed back into the Darkness.
Abandoned by the Light
And left alone.
It became clear that I had failed.
I wasn't strong enough to hide in the Light.
So I wrapped these Shadows around me
And I made this my home.
Know that I tried.
Know that I wanted
To be next to you
But now that is beyond my grasp.
Where once two walked
Now only one remains.
I've fallen now
But don't you dare stop for me.
Don't look back.
Let these Shadows hide the memories.
