Fate, the cruel destiny given to me.
I will never forgive or forget
The circumstances I've been thrown into.

I would never have guessed
That things would turn out as they have.
I fear the shock of it pushes me away.

I'm not carefree. I feel pain, I bleed.
I can't ignore it. I won't ignore it.
Is it so much to ask that I'm not betrayed?

It's not fair. I don't know if I'll be ok,
But at least I admit it. At least I even see it.
Can you say the same?

Or are you too busy looking at other people's lives?
Is it that you are afraid to look at yourself
For fear of what you might see?

Perhaps you should be...

This one hits home for me in so many ways. I love the line; "Is it so much to ask that I'm not betrayed?" I've asked that for years! Awesome write.

Fate tosses us all whatever hand it chooses...I try to look at my own life more than the lives of others because we never REALLY know about the lives of others until we know them incredibly well.
