No fancy silks to dry the tears
No sugar coated sweets
No promises lock down the years
No marked roads or paved streets

There are no chains to hold us here
There is no lock or key
There is no calming of our fear
There are no vows eternally

Not a lie to stop the pain
Not a tale to spin
Not one word to fool the rain
Not one cheat to win

There are no etchings carved in stone
There is no document
There is the future still unknown
There is nothing to repent

No perfect knight or maiden fair
No pride still left unshorn
Just a man in love so rare
With woman’s trust reborn.

it's rare to see a work in fairly 'poetic' format such as ABAB, but you used the words effectively and precisely as to post a good piece. Col.
