Hollow eyes gaze forward to see nothing
Thoughtless, moodless, ageless, but not serene
Comfort is distant and too frail to sing
And a child within is beaten unclean

Such moments, familiar, with emptiness
Sanctum of numbness and soft despair
No rage here nor hate - just sorrow's caress
To soothe or condemn to solitude's lair

She seeks him; he holds her - a treasure prized
Her body a chalice drained and left dry
Exhaustion blinds her of fear so despised
Uncertainty asks if life's just a lie

The doubts that return again and again
Are questions she asks with answers unknown
Travels taunt with hope just 'round the next bend
It's all just a dream is all that she's shown

She'll figure this out like she always could
She'll keep on moving as she knows she should.
