His kisses were like promises in the dark,
And in my heart he left his mark.
Still my soul he did not touch,
I did not love him but I wanted him very much.
Without love we would have nothing.
It pained him so that I would not accept his ring.
Even now that I am dead,
He comes to my grave wishing it were him instead.
Now I'm afraid it's my time to leave.
He swears for eternity he will grieve.
I do not trust promises made to unseen ears.
I fear there is no emotions in his pain and tears.
