"The Envy of Venus" by Strabo

she passed me like a winter sun,
basking in her glow - if only for that radiant moment -
a fiery dream,
of copper-curled tresses,
and ivory skin
with arches and stretches
such that Venus would covet.
her beauty surpasses all else I have seen.
Such a rich, grand, fine line she makes when she walks
as rust-colored spirals bounce light in the wind.
So proudly she strides - not a care for the world
so lowly and dull under each dainty foot-fall.
My heart has been captured, my tongue speaks no lies,
for such a brilliant young blossom
blinds all else to mine eye.
That moment is burned
on the flesh of my heart,
and its scars I will cherish for all seasons to come.
