Lying on the misty shores
Between death and love’s disease
I clasp my hand unto my heart
Around the arrow crafted from that tree
I encouraged so to grow
‘Lest the fallow ground lie dead
But dice were cast and at last
The Fates murdered those dreams
Within my head
For what wounds can cause the life
To wither and decay
But those that strike with the bite
Of that earth impaled by another’s spade
In the ill-bred silence
Would the curtains now descend
If Luna would not shine so bright
Her calming rays are of legend

So soft the Full Moon whispers
Wending solace through my pain
That I am enticed to pay the price
For drawing my heart from its freezing grave
Selene heed my petitions
In thy wisdom, I must know
If ever in the future
Shall my heart be calmed of
Near-death throes
If it shall not be so
Then I shall live on, unredeemed
And seek the peace now only known
In nameless, shapeless darkened dreams

Gazing from those haunted shores
Surrounded by spectres of the lost
I espy some living green
Untouched by the winter’s frost
Shouldering my burden
I leave that arrow on the ground
Bleeding freely, I move on
To claim what joy that can be found
