Run, run away from
good times haunting you
voices abusing, fear not
another's hands rough as
broken bones, angry
wounds on dignity, one
carries with a limit,
now pierced and bleeding
tears, hearts, running
for your own breakdown.

Promises broken before
spoken, trait to father men
brother men, coward men,
you'll keep your fist out
the next one, rum will change
people, and so can God.

Every time it comes loose
hearts curdle in revulsion,
a bitter, hateful smash
blind drumming, nerves
turned numb, pray on
a sweet memory for me.

Forgive the unbrave
and forgive his abandonment
left you to hurt,
face the sadists, blame
the bigger cause, that no
one answers to, but who?
You? with the power to
twist fate, break fear.

Tomb those nerveless cries,
skinning of souls, when
do I live simply, as a tree,
and stop covering for
outrage made against
our freedoms, it's on
your slate, in my bruise.
