why do we live in a society that decides that being slutty is a Bad Thing? people who are anti-slut tend to mumble about sexually transmitted disease, lack of intimacy, desire for attention, etc. women who enjoy sex too much are labelled Nymphomaniacs. they used to go to insane asylums to "cure" them of this terrible thing called an "orgasm". men have traditionally been considered slutty anyway, but if they ARE, it's a "fear to commit" or they're just a "player".
maybe these folks have something right, and find that enjoyable things are... well... enjoyable!
there's nothing wrong with having a lot of sex. the issues really end up being around this question- why are you doing it?
if you're doing it for dishonorable reasons, or to hurt yourself, or to raise self esteem... you may want to look at that. but if you want to have a lot of sex because godDAMN sex is a lot of fun- well then, why not?
i hear a lot about how i'm more at risk for STD's. i consider the people really at risk are the 40% who do not consistantly use condoms. i use protection with my lovers, and if a lover and i decide to stop using condoms, all my other lovers know, thereby keeping them aware of the risks. honesty, guys. that's all it takes. we get tested often, and keep each other informed about our results, and if we've engaged in any risky activities. it's not that hard.
we have a hard time accepting that various people are having sex- what i want to ask is this- is your concern and disgust a reflection of truth, or a reflection of YOUR truth? and if it's your truth, do you have the right to push that on other people? instead of teaching abstinence programs, we should be teaching folks about stds and protection. oftentimes, teaching about protection and stds will keep kids from having sex younger, and when they do, it tends to be less partners and with more use of protection.
i get so angry when people use slut as an insult. i'm a slut (a picky slut, granted), and i dont' see anything wrong with that. before you hurl those words around, think about why you care so deeply about sexual behaviors... and address the ACTUAL problem, not the socially-accepted one.
