one kiss
would betray me

you'll find
my lips
now
taste delicately
of cheap wine
and even cheaper
thrills

i've changed
since you've been gone
absense
making the heart
idealistic
and even
hopeful

at least until nightfall

then
the bottom
of a bottle
is where i scry my future
instead
of a puddle
of my tears

maybe
i like you more
when you're a stranger
when i don't
recognize
the scent
of your sweat

then
you can take me from behind
and i can pretend
you're still
the boy
who loved me
long
ago
