in a shadow
of a room
that is filled with words
and glances
mistaken answers
swept under carpet & into corners
she shivers & shakes
the pressing bodies
never touch
but are thick enough
to shade the marble floor
and the tension between them
freezes them in place
she hides her face
its an every day hell
with the cold smiles
the distant hugs
that keep them each within their skins
she quiets her sobs
she'll have to wait
till they fall asleep
she wouldn't dare
to their gazes meet
until then, she'll hide in her corner...
everyday
they come and go
this is their life
of empty dreams
where simple words
mean so much
and though everyone knows
they wont shut up
about stupid things
the daily gossip
of dinners made
by the cheaply paid
or of the stock
and how rude kids are these days...
its a world she knows
but hates so much
she's afraid...
that she'll become
another shadow
and forget
and become just like them
saying that pleasure is a sin
