I knew I should have said thank you
and appologized for all my lies
I know it was you who pulled me through
you came and you hushed my cries
but I stood up and walked away
and all the time I'd silently pray
that you'd follow me all the way
And as I fell you'd always come
Remember when I got drunk on mom's rum?
it was you who held my hair from my face
and my hurtfull words you took with grace
even when I lied and hypocrocized
you'd smile at me even as I realized
the stupid things I did
but when I broke your heart you hid
pushing you away was the last thing I meant to do
but I suppose this whole love thing was new
Your sweetness I never could return
watching all the bridges my words have burned
as they crumbled and fell and my careless feet
if only once I had given you a meal to eat
or a smile when you were down
but I can't do that now
I refuse to cry on the street where we met at
though the bench where you sat
is covered in sun
I just hope you're having fun
