Hello. I am a girl who likes music, old Russian icons, Salvador Dali, and religious discussions. Of course, I also enjoy writing--otherwise I wouldn't be here.
Most of my poems are about regular teenage problems---being ignored, feeling insignificant, etc...I like using a lot of symbols and giving my poems a sort of random feel. Sure, some of them end up really sucking, but the marjority of them I am very proud of. I'm not sure if all of them would be considered "dark" or not...I can tell you I can't ever make myself write a happy poem. I guess most of them fall somewhere in the middle--which is why I like "GraySky" as my user name...But anyway, here's one for y'all to judge.
The truth,
My precious friends,
Is no longer
What you believe to be true.
How ironic I want you to keep thinking it…
Though he’s winning,
I’ve come to a realization,
More than once this morning,
And several times last night…
Why did I ever think it was wrong?
Because of her?
Because of me?
Almost certainly the latter.
But in the morning,
In the cold,
In a new coat designed to contain my instincts…
In a tiny thread of time I thought,
“I don’t have to fake it now.”
When you looked at me, you were my god,
And as such I smiled.
When you moved, I hated you,
But I did nothing…
Except to let myself look like it,
Praising the hair falling over my eyes.
I told her, “Things change,”
Quite appropriately.
If only she knew…
If they’d help,
You could take these glasses so you could see:
I want you to be happy…
But only if it’s with me.
