I'm thinking of a number,
Not 1 through 4.
What shall we call it?
Surely it never existed before now.
We must make it memorable
In this frightening time,
When all thrive on secrets,
Scavengers of the past.

Such a symbolic gesture
In this frightening time
Of transition,
Of change of heart.
The removal of his power
By his silent lover
For her new king.
Who will lead us now?

I'm thinking of a new way
To murder my soul,
To rescue my spirit
From this frightening time,
When nothing is as it seems.
It's only the Monday's warning...
It's all in my head.

initially when I first saw the opening rhyme scheme at the first stanza, I was turned off. however, as the piece went on, I didn't see a scheme and that made me happy. I love the killer ending.
