I look at you and feel so sick,
You act so sugar-coated sweet.
Well, you’ve got a rotten core
And this I know from your scorn,
Which you’ve given me unbidden.
We used to be such close friends,
How could I have deserved this?
How could you have changed so much
In just one summer’s fleeting time?
Every day you tear me down
And sting me with your hurtful words,
Words which mean so much.
Have you ever given thought
To what it is
That makes you torment me so?
Always have I given you my utmost,
And yet you still degrade me.
Never have I given you cause
To envenom your words
With such a poison as you spout.
Never have I considered you with enmity
For what you say to me.
And yet you go on
With you torrent of hate.
All I have to ask is “Why?”
