This is something for a soldier to think about... I had a horrible nightmare about Hell a few nights ago that inspired this... I hope you guys understand what I am getting at.

HEY! I just noticed something... there's no profanity in this one! FUCK!

Screams of the damned echo in my ears
The flames leap high and writhe and lash
In eternal dance they scorch and sear
This being of transcended flesh

I feel the bite of the wicked scourge
Tearing flesh and rending bone
Blades, so hateful, sing their dirge
As they rasp their edges on the stone

I feel a spear deep in my back
With wicked biting hooks and barbs
I wonder when yon idle rack
Will be allowed to work its charms?

Words, like whips of ice, they sting
Echoing life's pain through my mind
Memories of my life, they sing
Of a world that left me far behind

I could go back, if I could break
These cruel and biting frozen chains
Sweet torture! My life I forsake
For your endless delicacies of pain

What brought me low? Why do you ask?
Do you think I don't belong here?
In living days I wore death's mask
Cries of woe delighted my ear!

A warrior? HA! You jest, you must!
Murderer, now that name suits me!
In life, revenge may seem most just,
And may do much to soothe ye

Mistake not death for what it is!
There is no way around it!
A killer feels the Devil's kiss
Once to the Reaper he submits!

Now begone! You draw me from my course
With your pointless, mindless blather!
If given a choice of which was worse
Twixt Hell and your mouth, I'd pick the latter!

I earned this place by blood and smoke,
And I'll stay here till time halts!
Maybe then I could forgive myself
For the deaths that were my fault!

Those that regret feel shame for their actions, eventually the self loathing will poision the mind...Its hard to put things behind you because the memory is always fresh, but its even harder to simply forget...~Diviana

...heh, your style hasn't changed too much; I can still read through it rather easily...very vivid imagery, and I'm a sucker for rhyme schemes that actually don't suck...a few funny, but effective, choices of words for some such rhymes...
