After a long and thorough break from the site, I feel like it is time for me to end this self-imposed hiatus of sorts. I've written off and on over the past year but haven't been crazy about posting here on DP. There's been a bad taste in my mouth since it was revealed to me by several members that there have been lurkers here on the site that were taking my writing (and the work of several other members) and submitting it as their own, perhaps even winning some contests with our hard work. Of course, I was appalled at this discovery, and attempted to go through the proper channels to get the matters resolved. Some complied, others did not, so what it really boiled down to was this: should I keep my writings free for all to see here on the site, or make it viewable to members only, thereby reducing the chances that my work would be snatched up and abused? I've finally come by the decision to make it private for now, viewable only to members of the site, because I trust that they can appreciate the hard work put in by another member instead of searching for instant gratification by posting someone else's work as their own on another site. So, to an extent, I am sorry that it had to come to that, I'm sorry I can no longer share my work with those that simply write and read because they love it as much as I do, but it hurt me far too deeply to see my efforts taken so blatantly by uncaring few.

You've no need to apologize. Unfortunately this nonsense will seemingly always continue.. which is why I am building a stupid bomb =) ~b

it's heinous...you shouldn't have to apologise as said...I leave my works for all to view too, In fact I don't ever think of this; but it happens...it's not fair and spoils the pleasure people can get from others writes as you say...

You know, I had heard this was going on and its sad to see that even poetry from the masses is not safe. Perhaps making my work private is the thing to do. No worries man all of us members are behind you 100%

...no worries; when I win the lottery, I'll sponsor an assload of members for Gold, and help them put all sorts of protective goodies on their templates so we can oust the plagers once and for all... :P
