She dreams
her flowing imagination
whisking her away to Never-Ever-Land
her release
"Dreams are as important as stars"
She says
with her lipstick and her Mother's shoes
playing dress up at 16
smoking reds like candy
and popping pills she just don't need
Wish I may
Wish I might
She'll still cut herself tonight
with the broken piece of glass
the broken mirror of herself
She says she wants to be a doctor
so she plays with all the boys
one day she finds out
She'll have a little her
and somehow her dreams went nightmare
and she threw herself down the stairs
I watched her one night
as she smoked her red's candy
her face looked faded
as if she couldn't sleep
and she told me
once more
that "dreams are as important as stars"
I nodded
I'd agree
but she looked up at me
with all too knowing eyes
"but like stars they fall"
