Valentine's day wasn't so bad
as I kept to myself all day
but when I laid my head down
is when it all settled into me like a cold flood
where the sheets were incredibly empty
and all I wanted
could think of
before the clock struck twelve
was you
in my arms
my eyes closed
my arms around a pillow
you were all I wanted to touch
you were all that I missed
and I guess my wants were strong enough
because...
I started to smell the perfume of your skin
you hair, tickling my cheek
as I nestled close to your heart
and I guess my wants were strong enough
because...
I could hear your heartbeat
and it felt so good
I wanted to cry
so I sit here, this morning
wondering
if
you felt my arms around you
just before the clock struck twelve
last night...
