The cold swirls around
the bare dead trees
while the wind whistles
a sad, sad song
only made for lonely ears.

Among the fallen leaves
splayed across the ground like
broken spirits given up
sat a little shadow
alone and lonely.

The long cold night
stretched bleakly across her mind,
taunting and teasing
because she has nowhere to go,
nobody's arms to run to.

Dark red hair
like auburn fire
glistened in the dark
and electric blue eyes
shone bright with unshed tears.

Nothing's right
after so long in paradise.
Everything changes
flawlessly into nightmare mode.
Too late for glimpses of heaven.

Day after day
hope fades,
the drive to fight and protect
erases any past happiness
all that's left is survival.

Hurt is all that's known
no calm, no peace, no love.
Blue eyes are dimming,
nothing is ever going to be the same
will never be right again.

Nobody listens closely
to the wind that buries
the sound of helpless sobs
and the dark that blinds the world
to the tears that just keep falling.

All she ever wanted
was to have something good,
have a hold on life,
to feel hope and love again,
but all she has is despair and pain.

And she fears it will never change.
