Colors. A rant.

A color is as most are already aware merely light waves being reflected in a certain way and, after being seen, processed in our minds as “Blue” or “Green” etc.

Many studies have shown that color plays a very large role in our everyday lives not only in the obviouse ways, but in the way of our mental state. To put it simply, Color effects the behavior of living organisms including, naturally, humans.

Asians and other eastern civilizations have put much store in the workings of certain sound waves as well as the light spectrum. Now, putting this information into perspective I ask you all to take a moment and think. What I suggest here today is not some “crack-pot” idea. It has been soundly tested before my time though never in this particular perspective. Though I believe that once you read this you will find that my theory is indeed sound.

Since color is, as was already established, the rejection of one particular wave length out of the light spectrum being reflected back. It is I believe safe to say that color as we know it is indeed simply a rejection. We do not “see” the spectrum, we see rejected wave lengths.

Now, you are all fairly intelligent beings. I am sure you will have caught on already, however I ask you bare with me.

So, if color = rejection, is it not safe to say that our very sensitive minds subconsciously absorb the “acceptance” and “rejection” though we do not consciously think about it.

We can already admit that certain colors have a psychological effect on us. Is it so crazy to assume that color may, inadvertently while we are in a vulnerable and sensitive state of mind send us a subliminal message of rejection?

White, It is the reflection of all color. The chemical and atomic make up of a true white is that of complete denial of any acceptance of any one color. It reflects the entire spectrum.

Black is the absorbtion of the spectrum. Accepting every color.

Can we then not logically conclude that people in a fragile, vulnerable, and insecure state of mind will subconsciously flock toward that which will make them in some way feel accepted. Which is why I believe so many teens and young adults are inclined to chose a lifestyle that allows them to express themselves in dark fashion.

Throughout the ages black has been a controversial color. NO this is not a racist comment. Nor is it ment to affend, but let us all be honest. Do not blame me but those who are too narrow minded to see the truth. Black has always been associated with magic and mystery. The unknown has always brought with it a sense of fear. Black is the rebel. It is the “robin hood”. It is Something we flaunt as well as hide behind. People who wear black are often unsure of themselves. They want to stand out in the crowd and blend in at the same time. There is a desperate need. They are insecure in their own skin.
Black = Acceptance.

(Now remember, this is all coming from research od observaton. It was done as a general consenses and should not be taken completely to heart merely evaluated.)

White. White is rigid. It is stark. We may associate white with our grandmother’s couch or our father’s jacket, Either one of which is a source of intimidation. If you were to somehow stain that item, you would be swiftly punished.
The gods of the ages have always been connected the the color white. As a holy trademark, white has been placed above us. It is a rejection of everything not exactly like itself. It is rigid in its perfection. It is unchanging. People who are in need of outside reasurrence will wear white. People who want to stand out as perfection. As unchanging and divine as the angelic color itself. These people are also typically high strung and high matinence.
White = Rejection

Which leads me to my stereotypical “shades of gray”.
Gray is a balance. Gray is hard to wear. Most people can not pull off wearing a gray color without looking 80 years old. Like the balance in life, it is difficult to find someone who can wear gray, live gray. Most people simply haven’t found their shade. Though I think that the shades of gray are what we should all strive for, while maintaining the importance of having the extreams of white and black.

Take from this what you will. I am simply going over with you all what I believe is a sound and justifiable theory. Make what you want of it. It will only be posted temporarily a sporadic number of times.

Thanks you for your time and patience. I will accept any comments you may have and will be more than happy to debate this theory. Good day.

Sincerely,
Natelle Kruse

Though i wouldnt say it's as simple as black and white, this is a great theory. The mind is affected by other colors as well. The idea taken metaphoricly is sound, and the theory taken litterally has merrit. Very interesting write. I'm wearing a grey

I marvel at this. You've planted an idea, that will continue to grow, in my thoughts. How did I ever live without this to ponder? Wonderful. ^V^
