oh dark i roam with moons for eyes
and dog-stars howling,
my body some temple-
kicking out dust and
coughing up mud.
but not the earthbound, holding tight
to their microwaves,
their radio frequencies,
their t.v. programming,
to silence any following doubt
about the placement of importance
or heart. so let the marks i make
be questions. as i push squares of words
into pyramids of sound
saying
Ni-Osiris-Ra,
show me there is true sight
in constellations,
for i remember the rising water
as east became west...
oh descendant of Orion and the sun,
please tell me of the return
of that dinosaur destroyer
for the day is black
and hangs a shadow on my head.
the star arrangements show
some mumbling godhand cleans the slate...
but how do i prepare?
and who among us shall be spared
