(Lectures on the function of the principal)

tunnel vision
television
pavlov's bitch
primal itch
they ring the bell
i feel like hell
we take the bait
and salivate...

please try to relax
and have a few more snacks
cause Ivan the insomniac
cannot give my stomach back

double vision
small incision
conditional
animal
complex
reflex
but when i swallow,
still feel hollow

i have never been myself
i live my life for someone else
i'd love to hold the hand that feeds
and kiss it with my canine teeth

"It may be considered as firmly established that removal of the entire cerebral cortex converts the dog into a comparatively simple reflex machine"
Ivan Pavlov

"i'd love to hold the hand that feeds and kiss it with my canine teeth" this is an odd thing to read but it creates a stunning visual of a dog with a gaping wound in his head...

I love the verbal coil and recoil of the crazy bastard images here...and the words really feed a candy brain some treats....I like your sense of wit, irreverence, informality....like the game's worth playing if you twist the rules to suit you....wonderful

and is the poem a narration..by a dog? Or more an allusion to your own life? Regardless....I love the quirky effort it induces...it's not what I expect to read and that's awash with pleasant surprise and enjoyment
