Black clouds, rolled in earlier today, cold and bitter.
The green rolling hills are gray, and flowers withered.
My heart belongs to you alone. After all, you shaped it.
Now you begin the journey home with all my heart, take it.
My soul, my mind, my heart inspired, by yours
Now I'd cross the eternal fires, for just a moment more.
No farewell, no hug goodbye, just the empty silence
Left with the tears I've cried, and years of sad regret.
To hell and back nothing less, a grieving heart and a wish,
But still I must confess, I want you here. How selfish.
Your daughter kept me away along with the rest of us,
But love endures come what may, I'll see you soon enough.
But for now I can't see you, and it breaks my heart
I'm supposed to try to get over you, but I don't know where to start.
All the light has left the world, and the skies have all gone gray,
My grandfather left with all the light. Papa I buried you today.
