Time is nothing more than a cold ball of ice.
Within it you find pretty lies and half truths.
You stare at it's glistening promises
And believe in the safety of it's made up havens.
Within time, all things are possible
And in time, all things are destroyed.
In time you fall in love.
In time the love grows.
In time your heart beats full and robust.
In time you are the only one.
In time the truth is revealed.
In time you find they didn't feel the same.
In time you realize you were diluting yourself.
And in time you are left with pain
Left with the cinders and dust of a broken heart.
Your flame, once piercing, warm and enveloping
Is dark and cold as frost and winter winds.
You're along again, and time becomes your enemy.
It stops, and rushes in unfair paces and rhythms.
It halts when you recall the pain.
And flies when you desperately reach for the hope.
It stills when you re-read the words
And sprints away when you recall the pleasures
Still wet and fresh on your lips.
Speak it's name, dates and measures
And you'll only count her arsenal.
The day you met.
The day you kissed.
The day you first felt the other.
The day you first became one.
The day you began to drift.
The day you began to fear.
The day you let the walls down.
And the day the castle fell.
Time breaks down the strongest walls,
The tallest mountains crumble at it's feet,
The sweetest blossoms wither in it's presence,
And the most precious of things
Is lost within it's folds.
It lays no blame, for there rarely is.
The most precious of things can be lost
Through no fault of the bearers.
And time leaves you there to think on that too.
Time stabs at your heart each second you realize
That it's no one's fault.
That they really do like you,
But that it all would have happened anyway...
All in due time.
