inadequate

yearning to be important
thriving for acceptance
never enough
trying so hard
yet not hard enough
wondering if
the fight will be won

the battle seems hopeless
an impossible challnge
white flag in hand
i climb to the summit
ready to give up
but fear grabs my hand

i try to shout out
my voice turns to whipser
where do i stand?
the answer eludes me
scares me
do i want to know?

the answer will haunt me
til days turn to decades
not knowing the answer
might keep me sane
