A call in the night
I answer my heart slows with the news
I feel weak hardly able to stand
gathering what little strength I can
grabbing my coat on the way out
the drive is long
images flashing in my mind
this feeling I cant shake
something is very wrong
we pull up and jump from the car
running inside
I stand waiting for the news
pulled into the back room
by some faceless person
we sit fearing the worst
someone comes they say
everything and nothing
but all I can hear is
my heart in my ears
as tremors flow through my body
I ask to see
I'm guided to a small room
in it lyes my brother
my kin
I'm shaken by the sight
the boy I've known
for so long
screaming in pain
from what I cannot see
bringing myself to enter
I've never seen him like this
THIS CAN'T HAPPEN
NOT TO HIM
WHY?
