By night's dying darkness
I close my eyes and weep
For dreams flowing hopeless
I bleed the life I keep

I look upon the wounds that yawn
        so deep across my wrists
I pound the clotting flow with blows
from ruthless angry fists

By dawn's divine torment
My skin begins to pale
But fate declines consent
As once again I fail

Though weak I plead in slashing screams
and soak my hands in pain
I curse the air with vicious prayer
of words that fall in vain

By noon's bitter shining
My flesh begins to heal
And death's futile pining
Grants life a sad appeal

I lay upon defeated sheets
Alone and filled with grief
Another day, another way?

...I cry in disbelief

I loved this, it was so telling and dark, plus the rhyme would make it an effective dark metal song

I like poems where I get a glimpse of what the writer was feeling when writing it, Good write!

Poignant and so very touching. I don't always read the "poem of the day" in my e-mail but it was such a pleasure when this old favorite arrived in my inbox today.

Maybe I am a little late to comment, but I am glad I 'randomly' landed on this work. The use of the word 'yawn' nearly stopped my heartbeat. you gave me chills man...just what I needed before sleep...gracias
