The sun's faint glimmer creeps over the mountainside,
The dawn of a new morning overrides the hazy night.
All too familiar sights seen with dark eyes
Shine with new meaning with the coming of the light.
Things seem more substantial, the future more certain;
The nights seem shorter with daylight's rule,
Sleep is easier to come by with no ghosts to fight,
and tears dry up without depression's consuming fuel.
Hope's tempting illusion fills the aching chasm
left behind with the riddance of the cataclysmal plague.
Dreams replace nightmares, memory fades to black...
All that was once too important has become distinctly vague.
Calm ensues as before the beginning of a fierce storm,
The darkness has surrended and peace rests content.
The light begins to dim, as security's siren song lulls,
And it seems all is right, with night's bansihment.
But the sun must always set, and night's demons wait,
Lingering patiently waiting for daylight's hold to wane.
They shall storm the stronghold; rape the unwilling mind,
And leave the body shattered with suicide's muderous rage.
