I remember my first meeting
I had to say my name
Unaware of what to say
I stood and nervously began...

Hello, my name is...cocaine
For you I found my cleanest dirty shirt
I tried to brush my hair
But it wouldn't go through the dirt

I threw away my family
Even gave up my home
Just to be with my friends and a needle
With them I was never alone

I steal and I cheat
And, yes, I even lie
Just to support my habit
I've even watched men die

I'm always looking over my shoulder
For fears someones after me
But I'm learning as I stand and talk
I am my own worst enemy

I am glad that you said that this wasn't about you. I was certainly going to ask. Wonderful display of how you feel about it though.

My friend, these are the thoughts I have always thought and the feelings I've felt but have never been able to express so simply in words. But you have just done that. Excellent work, and good luck to you if you really are struggling with such addictions.
