the city speaks in clouded issues of trauma
publicity for the phallic inclination
parading the streets in a format
of postmodern public sculpture,
brown water swirls echoless onwards
influenced by tidal changes
bodies dragged heavily along murky depths,
rubbish bags are wrapped around heads
suffocating, deliberating, protecting pores
while fish nibble and squabble below,
mutated by pollution, fins tripling, rippling
sirens blare in midnightly rank air.

bag over shoulder, wandering without aim,
head spinning, grinning, aching neck arched back
wonder in eyes at glowing lights, flickering flights
spreading across horizon nearing feet
[pitter-patter thump-bam thump-bam]
camera flowing into hand, tripod steadying itself
flick of wrist without warning, caution lost in seclusion
inklings of film glossing mind
taking humanised touch out of framework
[beep-beep-beep-beep click…… silence…… veerre wind]
grimace in delight, camera back over shoulder, tripod folded
walking forwards, mind oozing visual reverberation
flimsy theories pounding skull,
excitement of impossibility through contradiction
hesitate to ponder in wonder
[blink-flutter blink-flutter bidda-bom bidda-bom]
eyes focus to heart pound glistening streams flowing
urban headlights slide speedily catching reflections to travel.

metropolis romance for a night
beckons with fingers made of steel and foam
shy with humid heat but infused nonetheless
with tempting ploys of transgressions and felonies,
I sigh with lust and regret
carcinogenic fumes plying my body
with addiction to sulphur and carbon monoxide mix
smog exhales from rasping lungs
a smile escapes non-fiction lips.

You totally used the word phallic properly. You get mega bonus points from me for that. :D How do I put this..hum...if relationships were built on how well someone could write...well...I'd be in love with you. :)

This was simply fantastic. I love the mood you set, the words flow together with it so beautifully. I just can't get enough of this. :)

Fantastic write! I love that concluding line especially, but this rocked from beginning to end. Excellent and original structure, very cleverly done. Just all-around damn fine piece.

pictures only capture pieces of a tragedy and miss the hammer pound sound of every click.....a well portrayed absence of the actual impact .
