i set my wallet down again
left lonely on a pharmacy counter
wind whirls spinning around plastic
& Yuppie Bills freshly spat by a
money bunker who calls me by name
more often than anyone

identification no longer caring
carrying my shallow face through
pools of shattered reflections
too real for grandiose expectation
too grim for sympathetic crisis management

who are you am I left behind
trains of thoughtless banter
between trial size loves
fears inflated by hands filling with
time never spent

my mind's forefront is in high demand
while trivial cleverness flashes a
season pass disrupting first come
first serving priority delusions

realization of misplaced meaning
arrives loudly without regard for
peace keeping missionaries to
indigenous gratification maintaining
above average success rates

no doubt i recall where i last
held my life my insurance
my change outstretched
proving rights pre-certified to
obtain synthetic promises
regulated improvements
prolonged sorrow leaking
from doors behind
fault lines ahead reminding
loneliness that happiness
appears only moments before
gloom knocks

do i retrieve abandoned
existence insignificant in the
minimal scheme of survival
through endless concrete tunnels
white pill faces
ghetto playgrounds selling
alternate means to
justify my timely end?
