tonight
in the darkness
some are better
some are worse
perpetually exchanging positions
fearing complacency
taught to forge ahead
climbing pain and suffering
stepping stones to brightness
diamonds can be found in decay

tonight
in the darkness
one is nothing
one is never alive
perpetually stagnant
fearing failure
taught to hide
avoiding plagues of pain and suffering
stepping stones to misery
diamonds not worth the decay
