knives scrape through sludge at the bottom of a bottle
empty after 5 years of brimming

waterproof sealant over puncture wounds
disintegrate into sleepless nights

voices excitedly whisper into
swimmer?s ear freshly cured

nightmare memories inch across
thresholds without fear of banishment

tremors plead for embraces that won't
break each fragile ornament

boots pound on colors
devoid of definitive lines or ends

painfully obvious sunrises filled with
pointless stares of inescapable minutes

threats of painless days and new beginnings
slip into intangible fulfillment

reality and clarity drown their sorrows
with hypothetical ignorance

peace and healing steal
the last swig of saving grace

promises left to face the consequences
of making it all better, better than...
