Does death scare you? Have you seen into it's eyes. Hollow empty eyes, yet somehow they look back with a glare that blinds you with fear. Why do we live if it is to die and what do we get from being here. Is there a knowledge we must gain during our presence on earth for the place we go when this body is left to rot and our souls carry on. And why should we live in fear of death if death is innevetable. It can not be stopped, though we do so try don't we. We all say we are looking for the time of the end of all things, yet deep inside we cowar like ice from an oven. So now I ask you again, does death scare you???

My personal opinion on the death issue is that yes, everyone is scared of death at sometime in his/her life... either fearing the death of another or of oneself. But I think there is a purpose to death, unlike Sartre and Epicurus et al., I think the purpose is an ethical one, though it may not be dependent on some higher being or some judgment day or anything post demise. I think the purpose is to impose upon us a value for life, and for those who live without knowing when they will cease. The limitation on life, in other words, is what gives life value, if anything does. Scarcity, and the inability to accurately know at what point that scarcity or limit will be realized or reached. For me, this is the way I accept death, because it makes me live my life all the more purposefully and intentionally... I feel like I must make it my own, I must do what I feel should be done, because my life is necessarily short, with no possibility of continuing. But that's just my thoughts on the issue. Thanks for asking, btw.
