To stand alone is a burden,
when wounded and weak,
I sway off kilter...

In this decandent hall of mirrors
Where every wall has my face,
I look to each one
and see a stranger standing in my place.
Where I am weak, she is strong.
Where I am sad, she laughs hard and long.
Each of these faces says the same
When none of them say who I am.

Look, you have fallen and hurt yourself,
I move to help you up when she does not.
A wounded look tells me you don't understand,
that I would hold out my hand, yet,
She turned around and ran.

To stand alone is such a burden,
when tired and cold,
I would just fall...

If she were not so determined to stand...

I'm not a high and mighty critic but I love this! It makes sense and rhymes unlike a lot I've seen. An instant favorite for me :)

i really enjoyed this...so obviously personal, but, plenty of room to personally apply. 'she','her',yes yes...one of the same qualities i enjoy in a good song. i supposed i could agree with previous comments in a way, but,'plain' isn't always a bad thing.

Enjoyed this write very much. Yeah, the mirrors concept was wicked like Colin said, and I actually liked the rhymes. -Carl

I'd say honestly the rhyme is plain, but the 'decadent hall of mirrors' concept was deadly deep dark...just maybe the rest of the poem was a touch typical...still I liked that part
