Pictures in mind of yesterday
Faded and on parade,
Cause me no complaint,
Just a wistful want for what was.

What tender deceptions are these,
That keep me dancing away from now,
The tricking of then
Pulling my love away from you.

Tomorrow is where I have never been
A place of promise
That tells me to come,
And yet it frightens me.

Shall I succeed when I rise to the occasion,
Or shall I fall back to the last,
A failure to what I want
To what I could be, if only you could be too?
